PERSONALITY:
Dionysus is the god of harvest, wine, madness, theatre and religious ecstasy. Often associated with partying, alcohol, drug use, and general chaos. In some stories, he is considered an ‘outsider’ kind of god to the Greek Pantheon, and often represents those who don’t belong in conventional society.
Where Persephone might be known as “the Destroyer,” (if you really want to be mean) Dionysus role in mythology is also known as “the Liberator,” his madness also associated with freedom from self-consciousness and fear.
But that’s enough about the original Dionysus. This is the 21st century, baby.
Dionysus has always, always wanted to be useful. He’s the stranger who’ll take your group photo. He’s the dude who lets you know you dropped your wallet. He’s the guy who’ll drive you to McDonald’s when you’re totally trashed. And really, it’s no problem! He doesn't mind!
Doing these sort of things once in a while, that’s just a good friend, right? But he does it all the time. He doesn’t stop doing things for other people. Which maybe, maybe, isn’t the best thing for someone who’s still somewhat mortal, because even though they’re Gods, they still need to do things like… sleep. Of which Dionysus has purposely chosen to not do, once he was reincarnated. Because if he’s got a lifespan of only two years- why sleep now, when he can bring happiness to so many people with such a short amount of time? He’ll sleep when he’s dead.Or he’ll die in his sleep.
His attitude of unwavering optimism makes him different from the others. While Minerva might only be fourteen, she becomes jaded quickly to the realities of being a God. Dionysus never loses his faith in people, and continues to believe that he can bring happiness to others if he just tries hard enough- even when he actually can’t.
While the other Gods have almost a complete lack of trust in others (particularly Underworld-based gods like Morrigan and Persephone) Dionysus’ problem is that he trusts too much, despite also being an Underworld god. He trusts that the stranger he lets into his car from the highway is a nice guy (which he was, luckily)- and also says he imagines someone else would do the same for him if he needed it (to which the stranger scoffs at).
It isn't that Dio is stupid, no, he's smart. He knows that Woden isn't trustworthy, and despite Woden's involvement in the massive gig planned between the two of them and the Norns, he couldn't bear the idea of disappointing that many people, as well as disappointingCassandra Urdr. Unfortunately, his fear of disappointing people, and his exhaustion blinded him from seeing Woden's plan before it was too late, and he was too tired to stop him.
POWER:
1. PARTY GOD, WHOOP WHOOP (in four parts?) [CANON]
A. Most, if not all Gods, have ‘advanced’ physical abilities like endurance, stamina, speed, and strength. Dio is definitely not the strongest by any means, but he is strong enough to defeat Woden’s Valkyrie’s. His endurance is pretty decent though, considering we don't know if he's ever slept since reincarnation (April 2014) and was still able to put up a semi-good fight against a mob of possessed people (March 2015). Did he just straight up not sleep for a year?? We just don't know.
B. Hivemind possession: yeah this doesn’t sound weird at all, right!! Anyone who touches him when he’s Engaging his ability means they join the hivemind (and can also leave at any time they want). Joining the Hivemind means Dionysus can possess and speak through any individual in the Hivemind, but also means they all share the same thoughts and feelings, as well as gain some of his endurance so the party can LAST FOREVER. Which is to say everyone loses track of time, and will literally party until they decide they want to leave, or he stops. Also, anyone who doesn’t engage in using his ability will not be able to hear any music/see any crazy lights, and will see what real ritual madness looks like (it looks like a crowd of people losing their minds and dancing to nothing).
However, as a result of using this ability, Dionysus also gets lost in the crowd himself a bit- he isn’t “alone in his head” while it’s going on, and while we don’t know if he hears any distinct thoughts, we know that he can’t keep others out.
C. Weapon creation: a pair of glow sticks that are actually staffs/nunchucks that he can do sicknasty tricks with including beating people up.
D. Underground teleportation: being able to travel to “the Underground.” Which is just like, this weird dimension beneath the subways.
[ IF I NEED TO BREAK THIS UP TO EXIST AS 2 POWERS THAT'S FINE I CAN DO THAT ]
2. Power Multiplier [ NON-CANON ]
...But it only multiplies the longer he goes without sleep, and it only starts after two weeks straight.

1. Everyone's got a song that's their jam. Like a "drop everything, and you have to dance to it right then and there," song, right? Tell me about it.
2. So was the dress black and blue or white and gold? This is vital.
